If you find yourself with time on your hands and you want to feel productive, try starting some creative projects to celebrate the essence of spring. There are variety of things you can do by simply staying in your apartments in Portland.

Let’s start with painting. Whether you’re more interested in realism or abstract paintings, you can easily look up an art store and get materials for under $30 to work on a decent painting project. If it feels a bit odd or self-indulgent to paint for yourself, then think about making a painting that can be enjoyed by a friend, family, member, or lover. If you don’t know where to start, ThoughtCo has a great how-to that will outline everything for you.

Other things you can do if you’re alone is to start adding decorations to your apartments so that it feels as though your home is more personalized. Take some time and check out the Hawthrone district. The main drag has a bevy of fun stores and restaurants that’ll spark a creative streak.

Finally, if you have a Mac, you can create some music with an app called GarageBand. This will help you indulge in any auditory creativity you may have been stifling and let you get it all out.

Springs just around the corner, so it’s time to get prepared for this most bountiful of seasons. Here are some tips for spring cleaning that ought to help you out this year:

• Search around your apartments in Portland and get rid of objects that simply take up space or no longer serve you. Donate them to the Goodwill, Salvation Army, or a friend in need so that you can make space for new, better things.
• Pace yourself by tackling one room at a time. If you decide to clean everything all at once, you may find yourself feeling a bit overwhelmed and may give up before it’s time to finish up.
• Make a list of the cleaning supplies you need BEFOREHAND this way you don’t have to stop your flow mid-clean and then come back and find a hard time getting into it again.
• Make an energizing playlist on Spotify or listen to some rock n’ roll in order to stay motivated and keep the vibe high-energy.
• Light some sage in your apartments to get rid of lingering bacteria and bad energy (if you believe in that kind of stuff).
